Customizing Your Laser Product:
Anything less than these 4 stages means your laser artist isn’t doing enough for customer service.
-
Stage 1
First, we gather the customer’s ideas and design the product in LightBurn software. We add a pinch of experience, a twist of weirdness and some smiles and get the customer’s Stage 1 approval or tweak until we do. (If possible, it’s sometimes better to leave it overnight at this point. Fresh ideas burst in the morning and we might make some minor changes - like the addition of the client’s son’s name in the handle of the knife in the bottom image.)
-
Stage 2
Then, we create a “test cut” overlay. This is made from scrap pieces like a template. The test engraving is on the overlay instead of the customer’s product at this point, but the overlay can look very close to the completed product when applied for a test picture. When everything is done, and the client is happy, It’s time for the Stage 2, final approval.
-
Stage 3
With the design fully approved in writing, we complete the finished product. After completion, for cutting boards and most wood products, “NettsieBaby Board Butter™” is applied which wakes up the wood, soaks and seals it. “Board Butter” is sold in the Ready to Ship products section and is made from a special blend of organic waxes and food-grade mineral oil. (see image for half of the board buttered and half is not.)
-
Stage 4
After fully “buttering” the entire board, it really looks beautiful and now the cutting board is ready to be shipped. For non-wood products this stage would include polishing glass to eliminate fingerprints, cleaning stone/tile, smoothing leather and so on. The final picture sent to the client must be as perfect as possible so that there are no surprises when the package is opened!
